Abrasion-Resistant Steel Plates For Long Service Life In Harsh Conditions

Abrasion resistant (AR) steel plate is a specially designed high-carbon alloy steel with greater hardness than low-carbon steel.

Hardness is usually at the expense of strength, which makes AR wear-resistant steel an ideal material for harsh, high-wear conditions, rather than for structural applications.

Unlike many structural steels, AR is not subject to any ASTM codes or specifications, nor does it require specific chemical compositions. In fact, the composition of AR steel varies from mill to mill. On the contrary, hardness (Brinell hardness unit) is the most important factor for engineers when evaluating AR steel plate materials.

Abrasion-Resistant Steel Plates For Long Service Life In Harsh ConditionsWhat are the benefits of AR steel?

In applications involving impact and/or sliding contact with abrasives, the benefits of using wear-resistant steel plates are huge.

Abrasion resistant steel plates are very durable, wear-resistant, and prevent wear and scratches. This type of steel works well in demanding applications and also provides a certain degree of impact resistance. Wear-resistant steel plates will ultimately help extend the life of your application and reduce your costs in the long run.

Industrial AR steel plate

Abrasion resistant steel plates are widely used in energy, industrial manufacturing, infrastructure and other fields. Other applications include:

Mining

Construction

Material handling

There are wide range of applications of wear-resistant steel plates.

AR products are ideal products for a range of applications such as mining/quarrying, material handling and construction, conveyors and earthwork transportation.

AR steel plate is the steel plate chosen by designers and factory operators when they need to extend the service life of key components and reduce the weight of the unit. In applications involving impact and/or sliding contact with abrasives, the advantages of using wear-resistant steel plates are huge.

The steel plate used under abrasive conditions is not typical because it does not have any ASTM specifications or guidelines. Many steel plate manufacturers produce their own AR steel brands, and these products are usually distinguished by the brand name followed by the hardness of the steel which is measured in Brinell hardness units.
